The FDA also approved the Zantac 20 mg tablet as an alternative treatment for GERD in July 2000. The Zantac 20 mg tablet is designed to provide immediate relief for symptoms of GERD such as heartburn and acid reflux. The medication is available in an extended-release capsule form and is also available in a tablet form.
These medications are available in two forms: a Zantac 20 mg tablet and an immediate-release capsule. Both Zantac 20 mg and Nexium 20 mg are taken by mouth and are usually taken once daily. These medications are not approved for long-term use, so patients should continue taking the medications for at least four weeks after stopping their treatment.
